Plastic card ...
Everyone has a debit, credit or ID card. Every card is of the same size and can
easily be kept in a wallet, purse or briefcase, in a specially designed
compartment.
Rosary ...
The Holy Rosary in a form of the string with beads to count prayers with has
been known since the 12th century. It was made of various materials, e.g. seeds,
wood, coral, amber, bone, precious metals or plastic material.
Rosary Card ...
The Rosary Card is a combination of a regular size plastic card and the Holy
Rosary. The beads are impressed on the reverse side of the card, while on its
obverse there are images of saints and holy places. As a result of impressing
beads on the back side of the card, there are small recessed areas on the front
of the card. The card is durable just like a cash card, its workmanship is
extremely good and you can always have it on you.
Rosary Card was approved and added to the list of all devotional articles
created since the Cardinal Karol Wojtyla was elected successor to Pope John Paul
I in 1978.
Durability
Rosary Cards are produced according to ISO 7810 standard which is originally
designated for production of debit/credit cards. The Rosary Card is the same
size as the debit/credit card, and used accordingly should last for at least 12
years.
Every card comes with a protective vinyl sleeve.
Luminous Mysteries (The New "Mysteries of Light")
The Holy Father's newest Apostolic Letter - The Rosary of the Virgin Mary -
urges the faithful to pray the rosary more often.
On October 16, (the beginning of the twenty-fifth year of Pope’s Pontificate)
Pope John Paul II announced the addition of five new "mysteries of light" to the
centuries' old devotion of the rosary. He also announced the beginning of the "Year
of the Rosary" which will extend from mid-October 2002 to October 2003.
The five new luminous mysteries, which are to be recited on Thursdays, are:
Christ's baptism in the Jordan River.
The marriage of Cana.
Christ's announcement of the kingdom of God
The Transfiguration
The institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper.
In his Apostolic Letter, the Pope said that he did not wish to change the rosary,
but to contribute to its evolution as a prayer form.
The Rosary Card that you see on the right hand side lists all new Mysteries of
Light (Luminous Mysteries).
The Mysteries of Light - "Mysteries in which the Kingdom is revealed in the
person of Jesus."
1. Baptism in the Jordan - As Jesus descended into the waters, the Heavens were
opened and the mystery further revealed. The Father and Holy Spirit are present,
and John the Baptist testifies that "this is the one." Jesus, who did not know
sin, submitted to the Baptism of John as righteousness. May we humbly follow the
teachings of the Church out of a desire to fulfill the Will of the Father.
"Let it be so for now, it is proper to do this to fulfill all righteousness."
2. The Wedding at Cana - The first sign is accomplished at the request of the
first believer in Jesus, Mary. We learn that Jesus cares for our needs and
responds to our pleas. Mary teaches us to "do whatever he tells you." May we
remember that prayer is the first step in the best results, and that confident
obedience is the best action we can take.
"He did not realize where the wine had come from, but the servants who had drawn
the water knew. He called the bridegroom aside and said ... you have saved the
best until now."
3. Proclaiming the Kingdom - Jesus proclaims the Kingdom of God, calls us to
conversion, "and forgives the sins of all who draw near to him in humble trust."
(RVM) This mystery continues to the end of the world, as the Body of Christ
continues to preach the Gospel to all the earth. May we preach the Good News
always, most especially by our actions in everyday life.
"Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
"By this will they know you are mine, by your love for one another."
4. The Transfiguration - Most truly a mystery of light, the Transfiguration
revealed more about Jesus, and strengthened the Apostles in anticipation of the
coming sufferings. The face of Jesus shone like the Sun, and the Father reminds
those present, "This is my Son, my chosen, listen to him." In the presence of
such Glory, the Apostles do not know what to say. May we turn our thoughts to
the Glory of Christ often, and practice the contemplation that comes from being
speechless in the awesome presence of God.
"He did not know what to say..."
5. The Institution of the Eucharist - In his perfect love, Jesus gave himself to
his own under the appearance of bread and wine. This utterly new gift of God to
us, a perfect sacrifice on our behalf, reveals the depth of His love, the love
that gives his life itself to us. The Apostles could not fully grasp this until
later, and they have passed that knowledge on to our generation. May we receive
the gift of the Eucharist with sweet gratitude and deep devotion, and so be
transformed into the shape of Christ.
"This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

The Mysteries of Joy
1. The Annunciation
The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth. And
coming to Mary, he said, "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you."
(Lk 1:26-28)
2. The Visitation
Mary set out and traveled to the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When
Eliz-abeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth,
filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most
blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb." (Lk
1:39-45)
3. The Birth of Our Lord
And Mary gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes
and laid him in a manger . . . And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly
host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest and on earth
peace to those on whom his favor rests." (Lk 2:1-20)
4. The Presentation in the Temple
Mary and Joseph took the baby Jesus to the Temple to present him to the Lord.
At the temple Simeon and Anna came forward, gave thanks to God and spoke about
Jesus to all who were present. (Lk 2:22-38)
5. The Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple
The boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers,
listening to them and asking them questions. (Lk 2:41-50)
1. The Baptism in the Jordan
And a voice came from the heavens, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with
whom I am well pleased." (Mt. 3:17)
2. The Wedding at Cana
"Women, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come."
His mother said to the servers, "Do whatever he tells you." (Jn 2:1-12)
3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
"This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent,
and believe in the gospel." (Mk 1:15)
4. The Transfiguration
While he was praying his face changed in appearance and his clothing became
dazzling white. (Lk9:29)
5. The Institution of the Eucharist
Before the feast of Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to pass from
this world to the Father. He loved his own in the world and he loved them to
the end. (Jn 13:1)
1. The Agony in the Garden
Jesus went to a place called Gethsemane to pray. "My Father, if it is possible,
let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will." (Mt 26:36-46)
2. The Scourging at the Pillar
The chief priests with the elders and the scribes held a council. They bound
Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate. Pilate, wishing to satisfy
the crowd, had Jesus scourged and handed him over to be crucified. (Mk 15:1-16)
3. The Crowning with Thorns
They stripped off his clothes and threw a scarlet military cloak about him.
Weaving a crown out of thorns, they placed it on his head, and a reed in his
right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, "Hail, King
of the Jews!" (Mt 27:27-31)
4. The Carrying of the Cross
Jesus, weak from being beaten, was unable to carry His cross to Golgotha alone.
Simon, a Cyrenian, helped him. (Mk 15:20-22)
5. The Crucifixion
When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him and the criminals
there, one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, "Father, forgive
them, they know not what they do." (Lk 23:33-46)
1. The Resurrection
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. An angel appeared and
said, "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified.
He is not here, for He has been raised just as He said." (Mt 28:1-10)
2. The Ascension of Our Lord
As Jesus blessed them He parted from them and was taken up to heaven. (Lk 24:44-53)
3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit
Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you.
Receive the Holy Spirit." (Jn 14:15-21)
4. The Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven
"Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original
sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and
soul into heavenly glory." (from Munificentissimus Deus (1950):DS 3903)
5. The Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
"We believe that the Holy Mother of God, the new Eve, Mother of the Church,
continues in heaven to exercise her maternal role on behalf of the members of
Christ." (from the Solemn Profession of Faith: Credo of the People of God)
